Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay born August 24 72, from Long Beach CA. DuVernay started to discover her artistic and creative talents when she was a young girl, thanks to Aunt Denise. She worked as night nurses to afford her aunt the time she needed during her day time to enjoy the pleasures of literature, art as well as theatre. DuVernay loved the film West Side Story, which she introduced to her. DuVernay discovered through experience the art of being a good vehicle for activism. DuVernay discovered a passion for journalistic broadcasting while in school. DuVernay began her career as an intern with CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being instructed to take a look at the junk from a home belonging to a jury member. She was disappointed by her journalism tasks and decided to change to the field of public relations. DuVernay got her first job as a publicity specialist in small production studios right after she graduated from school. In this role, she launched her own company for public relations named The DuVernay Agency in 1999. In addition to PR her agency also launched several marketing and lifestyle platforms, such as The Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful.
